Margaret Wharton, more often than not, is found in her daughter’s garage with a band saw in one hand and glue in the other.
The Oak Park Arms Retirement Community resident works five hours a day on non-traditional sculptures and uses objects such as pop cans, bags, books and balls and revamps them adding her own contemporary flare.
Her distinctive artwork has been displayed at some of the nation’s most prestigious museums and galleries throughout the last 35 years and is currently featured at the Jean Albano Gallery, 215 W. Superior Ave., Chicago. (read more)
