Home Care Services

For customized care in the privacy of an apartment in the Oak Park Arms, our own home care program can include the following services: medication reminders (up to 3 times daily), medication set-up, bathing assistance, home health aide visit, incontinence management, blood pressure checks, RN services, and many more.

Wellness Center

The Wellness Center is staffed by a Registered Nurse and is available to assist Arms' residents with medical needs such as:

Blood pressure monitoring
Medication education
Acting as a liaison between residents and their physicians
Monitoring health conditions to help residents decide if an emergency room visit is necessary
Ordering medical equipment
Answering any medical questions or concerns residents may have

Home Health Services

The Oak Park Arms works with several Medicare certified home health agencies. When health conditions warrant skilled care, residents’ can receive services in the comfort of their own apartments with assistance from a home health agency of their choice. Physicians agree that most patients recover sooner and more comfortably in the familiar surroundings of their home

Interim Healthcare

Interim Healthcare at the Oak Park Arms offers an opportunity to restore strength, balance, and fine motor skills in a safe, homelike environment.

SCC: Lifelong Learning Center

Through education, social, and cultural activities, the Senior Citizens’ Center of Oak Park and River Forest seeks to inspire older adults. With a commitment to help people to continue their quest for lifelong learning, the center also provides supports to encourage individual independence along with broadening horizons and encouraging involvement in the community.

We offer a variety of special programs and volunteer projects and opportunities to keep our members active and involved in our greater community.

Oak Park Township Senior Services

Award winning services for seniors in the Oak Park area, honored with the Dr. Fitzimmins Award from the Department of Public Health, the Johnson Award for restaurant cleanliness and individual awards too. The Oak Park Township Senior Services provide transportation options, a lunch program, discounted taxi cab service, Case Management Services, driving courses and many other services for the older adult.

Arms Beauty Salon

Connie started as a stylist at the Oak Park Arms then became the Salon owner in 2004. She believes in the golden rule and treats everyone the way she would like to be treated. Connie loves making people look and feel beautiful. The Arms Beauty Salon serves individuals looking for a high quality hair style at a reasonable price. The best part of being at the Oak Park Arms is the location.

Emil's Barber Shop

Born to be a barber, Emil Messina has been cutting hair at the Oak Park Arms since 1986. Before coming to the Arms, Emil cut hair at the Conrad Hilton at the Palmer House for more than 34 years. He has cut the locks of many celebrities including Liberace and Jack Benny. Emil gives customers what they want, which is why he has customers from all over.

CCA: The Hearing Place

With over 40 years of experience in Audiology, hearing aid evaluations and hearing aid fittings, Dr. Beiter has been providing services at the Oak Park Arms since August of 2000. Dr. Beiter 's reputation for quality and responsiveness makes him an invaluable support for Oak Park Arms residents. Dr. Beiter’s philosophy is to make good hearing an economic reality for all people.

Psychologist, Dr. Richard Mattson

Dr. Matteson has had an office at the Oak Park Arms for more than 30 years. He has been in private practice since 1977 and has taught psychology at several Universities including the University of Illinois, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Northern Illinois University. Dr. Matteson believes that the whole person is important and coordinating with psychiatrists, general practitioners, social workers and family members is vital.

Podiatry

After graduating from the Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Magna Cum Laude, and completing her residency at Loyola Medical Center Dr. Chon went into private practice. Maria Chon has had her office in the Oak Park Arms for nearly 14 years. Her impeccable care, gentle nature, and charming personality make an exceptional combination. Dr. Chon loves developing relationships with her patients and interacting with them.
