Redd Griffin, a cultural historian, will present part two of a four part program on the most thrilling moments in American history at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. Part two is titled, “1776 American Hearts Aflame: Burning British Bridges with the Declaration of Independence.” The public is warmly welcome.
Griffin, a noted Hemingway scholar and former director of the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park, will talk about the pioneers who forged the new democratic civilization named the United States of America.
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
