Q: How do I know what kind of care or assistance my loved one will need?
A: Often people have special needs that change over time. With the help of your physician, family, and the Oak Park Arms, a needs assessment can be completed to identify what activities of daily life need support to maintain the well being of the person. Providing the personalized care and honoring a persons dignity and attention may require the supportive options available in independent living or in assisted care.
Q: Does your staff have experience working with seniors and their families?
A: The Oak Park Arms is proud to have long term professional members on our team. Our training programs are ongoing and we seek exceptional individuals to work with and promote from within. Senior living is our only business, and every member of the Arms’ team is a professional in his or her field. Please go to our Meet the Staff page to learn more about our outstanding management team.
Q: Am I required to purchase a meal plan?
A: Residents are not required to purchase a meal plan. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered each day and can be purchased on an ala carte basis or as part of a meal plan. We are extremely proud of our chef-prepared dishes for their outstanding quality and variety. We encourage you to take a look at our Georgian Room Restaurant menu and our daily special menus.
Q: What kind of activities and social programming do you offer?
A: The Arms employs a full time staff of experts who create a full calendar of events which are physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally stimulating. Healthy and fun daily activities include events such as luncheons, speakers, dances, concerts, Nintendo Wii bowling leagues, card groups, computer classes, etc. Please look at our activities page and calendar for more details.
Q: Do you offer transportation services for residents?
A: Yes. We have a bus that runs seven days a week. Residents can count on a safe ride to doctor appointments and to nearby malls. There is no extra charge for this service. Please refer to our Bus Schedule for more details.
Q: Is there a wait list to get into The Arms?
A: That depends. Wait lists can vary by floor plan and time of year, so if you have floor plan in mind, it would be in your best interest to tour early so you can procure your first choice. Please contact us to set up a tour.
Q: Is the building staffed 24/7?
A: Safety and convenience are a top priority. Staff are present 24/7 including front desk staff and Home Care aides. We provide well being checks for all of our residents and can increase the frequency as needed.
Q: Do you have an age requirement?
A: The Arms is non-discriminatory, but we suggest residents be age 62 or older.
Q: Is guest and resident parking available?
A: Yes. We have visitor parking lots located next to our building. Preferred parking and reserved parking is available to our residents and family members.
