While many a person her age is lamenting the loss of friends, 97-year-old Gertrude Crowley is making more friends daily. At last count she had 97 friends on her Facebook page, and she is hoping each of them will also take time to read her latest blog entry.

The Oak Park Arms Chorus will perform at noon, Tuesday, March 9, at Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Ave., Chicago. The OPA Chorus is comprised of residents of the Oak Park Arms Retirement Community as well as musically inclined people of the general community.

The Oak Park Arms Retirement Community announces a new series of informational programs titled “Quality of Life.” A topic of interest about senior health issues will be presented monthly by a medical or lifestyle expert. All presentations take place at the Oak Park Arms Retirement Community, 408 S. Oak Park Avenue, Oak Park. The public is warmly welcome.

The Oak Park Arms Retirement Community resident works five hours a day on non-traditional sculptures and uses objects such as pop cans, bags, books and balls and revamps them adding her own contemporary flare.
