Oak Park Arms Independent, Assisted Living and Short-Term Stay Rental Retirement Community

Senior Olympics

Oak Park Arms Senior OlympicsResidents of the Oak Park Arms retirement community compete in six different events at the annual “Senior Olympics.” David Williams, a fitness instructor at Oliver Wendell Holmes School is the host and emcee.

The events consist of ring toss, bean bag toss, horseshoes, egg walk, parachute throw and creative relay races.

The Olympics begin with a community “Walk & Roll” (roll because of walkers and wheelchairs) followed by a light brunch and key note address about the importance of fitness at all ages. Past speakers include, Monroe Saffold, Mr. America 1990.

The residents love the friendly competition and train in the daily exercise classes offered at the Oak Park Arms. The medal ceremony, at which gold, silver, and bronze are awarded in each event, is a grand highlight of the day.
