The Oak Park Arms retirement community presents a “Summer Jazz Festival,” with free monthly Monday night jazz concerts. The public, friends and family are welcome to one or all of the concerts taking place at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park.

Jeremy Kahn Trio featuring Eric Schneider
Kahn is one of Chicago’s busiest pianists, playing in jazz clubs, theatre pits, and recording studios. He was a featured guest on NPR’s “Piano Jazz” hosted by Marian McPartland. Dennis Polkow of the Chicago Tribune wrote, “Kahn is …a rare and gifted pianist.”

The Joss Rangers
The rangers formed right out of college and have been playing together for two years. The group mixes funk, jazz and jazz fusion. Jody Casden provides vocals, Mike Lough plays bass, Mike Tishchauser plays guitar, and Trevor Shandling plays drums.

The Skip Green Quartet
This quartet performs works by Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Billie Joel, the Beatles and Stevie Wonder. Skip Green is recognized as one of the top jazz performers in Chicagoland. Other quartet members are John Logan on bass, David Jennings on drums, and Dick Daugherty on the saxophone, clarinet and flute.

Rick Shandling Jazz Coalition
This group plays musical styles ranging from mainstream be-bop to contemporary jazz. They play original compositions as well as jazz standards. Shandling is a drummer and composer who is a regularly featured artist in the Chicagoland jazz scene. For 20 years, he has hosted the Friday Night Jam Session at Chicago’s Green Mill jazz club. In addition, he and his band give back to the community by providing demonstrations at elementary schools.
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
