Academy for Seniors: Mythology Class

Oak Park Arms Senior AcademyIn response to the growing concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), leadership at the Oak Park Arms has made the decision to prohibit the public from all activities and events. Such events will take place but are limited to residents only. We look forward to welcoming the public into Oak Park Arms events and activities again very soon.

The Oak Park Arms’ Academy for Seniors features a course on Mythology at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Lecture facilitators will share thoughts, experience, and insights on Mythology every other Sunday at 2 p.m. All sessions are free and take place at the Oak Park Arms.

Each class runs one hour. Materials are presented followed by lively discussion.

In 2016, Moses Williams, Executive Director of the Oak Park Arms, conceived a new activity at the  Arms called the “Philosophers Roundtable.” It was enormously successful, and participants asked for more.

“The residents thirst for knowledge was so compelling,” Williams said. “I started thinking about offering other topics. Brainstorming with other staff members and a year’s worth of planning led to the Academy for Seniors. We’re very proud, and hope many older adults will join us.”

The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides senior housing in the form of senior independent living and assisted living apartments. Additional services include respite care and an award-winning adult day care program. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

The Academy for Seniors is typically free and open to older adults, age 55 and up. Currently this event is limited to residents only. For more information call 708-386-4040.
