Masters of the Italian Baroque

Bobby SchiffThe Monday Night Concert Series presents, “Masters of the Italian Baroque,” at 7 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.

The musical duo features Shimon Marcucci playing soprano saxophone and Bob Schiff on piano.The duo will play concertos and sonatas from the Italian Baroque period during which the fast movements are full of joy and energy; the slow movements are dignified and emotional.

Composers include J.S. Bach, Tomaso Albinoni, Alessandro Marcello, Tomaso Vitali and Francesco Mancini, all of whom were active in Italy between 1700 and 1750. The music was originally written for oboe, violin or flute, and it has been transcribed for soprano saxophone.

The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
