Art Exhibition: Three Sea Tales by Bobbie Raymond

Three Sea TalesA wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of a new art installation by author and artist Bobbie Raymond from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the Narrow Gallery at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The reception is free and open to the public.

Thirty watercolor illustrations are part of Bobbie Raymond’s children’s book “Three Sea Tales.”The book is for children of all ages. It contains three stories that reveal another world – the world under the sea where even fish work together.

Based on Raymond’s observations while snorkeling, the stories inform as well as entertain. Short “author’s notes” at the end of each story bring a personal note to the fictionalized, yet factual, tale the reader just completed.

The stories are fun and intriguing: “Gus the Flying Gurnard,” “Frenchy’s Cleaning Station,” and “Sylvie – The Squid Who Couldn’t Change Colors.”

Raymond, aka Bobbie Larson, is primarily know as an artist and her beautiful, transparent watercolors bring her stories to life. Gus, Frenchy and Sylvie are depicted as they appeared to Raymond during her underwater observations.

Through her words and drawings, Raymond shows how courage, curiosity, and hard work can transform the lives of undersea creatures.

The exhibition can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday until Thursday, May 12, 2016.

The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

Again, the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. For more information call 708-386-4040.
