Guitarist Mark Dvorak Guitarist Mark Dvorak presents a Folk Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.The Monday Night Concert Series is dedicated to presenting small ensembles, primarily solos, duos and trios. All concerts are free and open to the public.

The Chicago Tribune called Mark Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “… a living archive of song and style.” In 2012 he was named “Chicago’s Official Troubadour” by WFMT 98.7 fm Fine Arts Radio.

His concerts are a mix of the familiar and the new with traditional folk and standards from the American songbook. He plays authentic country blues guitar and picks great old-time banjo. Dvorak enjoys involving his audiences in sing-along songs, and he mixes in his own well-crafted originals.

Dvorak has won awards for children’s music, journalism, and in 2008, he was honored with the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2013 he received the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International.

The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
