Jazz Concert Series Features Vocalist Paul Marinaro

Vocalist Paul Marinaro holding a microphone singingThe Monday Night Concert Series features “Songs You’ll Like to Hear,” with vocalist Paul Marinaro, accompanied by pianist Jeremy Kahn, and Eric Schneider on clarinet and sax, at 7 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Oak Park Arms retirement community, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.

The Monday Night Concert Series, which is free and open to the public, is dedicated to presenting small ensembles, primarily solos, duos and trios.

With Chicago as his home base, Paul Marinaro has become a very respected male vocalist. In fact, Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune said Marinaro has, in a review: “…one of the most beautiful vocal instruments in the business today.”

Marinaro performs to sold-out audiences in world famous jazz venues, and he’s been a featured performer at The Chicago Jazz Festival for an audience of 10,000 at the Pritzger Pavilion. He has earned “Best Performance of the Year” in the Chicago Tribune for multiple years.

Daniel Healy of Chicago Jazz Magazine said in a review “…a mainstay of the Chicago music scene, entertaining with both his vocal aplomb and charming wit, Marinaro delivers (on this recording) with emotion and musicality to spare (and) sings with particular assurance, interpreting several selections of the Great American Songbook with an alluring tone and an incisive swing feel.”

In addition, Oak Park Arms’ audiences are enthusiastic fans of Jeremy Kahn and Eric Schneider who frequently present programs of their own at the Monday Night Concert Series.
