Readers Theatre at the Oak Park Arms

Reader’s Theatre: Spoon River

The Oak Park Arms Reader’s Theatre Ensemble (ARTE) presents readings from “Spoon River Anthology,” at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.

The lives of native Illinoisans are portrayed in soliloquies from “Spoon River Anthology,” written in 1915 by Edgar Lee Masters. The work is a collection of short free-form poems that collectively narrates the epitaphs of the residents of a fictional small town of Spoon River.

The ARTE ensemble performs regularly, featuring works of acclaimed and local current authors, holiday shows, open mic events and poetry slams.

The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 708-386-4040.
